Job Status/Hours: Full time, 1.0 FTE
Position Summary: We are seeking a full time, motivated and talented Certified Coder to join our busy, fast paced specialty office at Metropolitan Heart & Vascular Institute. This position will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate procedure codes, modifiers, and diagnosis codes are assigned to all claims to facilitate accurate reimbursement. Conducts chart audits to review the accuracy of coding and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate procedure codes, diagnosis codes and modifiers are assigned to claims.
- Assign ICD-10 and CPT Codes for various visits and procedures through review of documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Work queues as assigned. May include assistance with appealing denied charges.
- Meet with physicians when required to provide education or assistance with coding and billing issues.
- Responsible for keeping current with coding changes and updates.
- Ability to deliver high quality customer service to external and internal customers by communicating with knowledge and compassion.
- Work as part of a team to complete departmental responsibilities.
- Promote a positive work environment through effective teamwork.
Qualifications:
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current coding credentials (CCS-P, CPC, CCS, RHIT).
- ICD-10 certified.
- Two-three years’ experience of coding in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Cardiology & Surgical coding preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- A team player with the ability to work independently.
- Must have strong computer skills. Epic/Excellian strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy rate required.
