Cardiothoracic Surgeon

We are seeking a cardiothoracic surgeon to join our growing and thriving practice. This position will provide care at the Mercy Hospital Heart Center in Coon Rapids, MN with flexible FTE opportunity.

Metropolitan Heart & Vascular Institute (MHVI) is a busy, independent private practice and a leader in providing innovative, patient-centered care in the Northern and Northwest suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota. We provide care in 3 hospital settings and 6 clinic locations with 70+ providers including 3 cardiothoracic surgeons and 4 vascular surgeons.

Mercy Unity Hospital is the premier hospital in the northern metropolitan communities of the Twin Cities with 420 staffed beds, 3,500+ employees, and 830+ affiliated physicians. Two campuses provide inpatient and outpatient services to more than 270,000 patients each year. Together, these facilities offer nationally recognized clinical excellence with compassionate health care services including cancer care, heart and vascular services, emergency and trauma care, surgical services and da Vinci® System. We are a growing practice with EP/CV lab and 2 dedicated CV OR’s (1 hybrid OR) to provide CV procedural services.

Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalency training required.
  • American Board of Thoracic Surgery certified/eligible
  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME/AOA cardiothoracic surgery fellowship training program
  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure
  • Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
  • Rank may be at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor level, depending on applicant qualifications
  • TAVR experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional collaboration abilities with partners and staff
  • Understands and places importance on patient care/service
  • Candidate should have a commitment to academic and teaching endeavors
  • Candidates should have experience in supporting medicine post-graduate fellowship training
  • Candidates should be recognized for provision of clinical excellence
  • Applicants must have the ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United State

  • Base salary range $800k-900k + Compensation and Expenses
    • The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
