Job Status/Hours: 0.8-1.0 FTE
Salary Range: $120,000-$160,000 annually

Metropolitan Heart and Vascular Institute (MHVI) is a leading cardiovascular care provider serving the north and northwestern Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our expanding Cardiovascular Surgery team within our dynamic and growing practice.

 Responsibilities:

  • Provide Postoperative management for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery. This position does not include OR time.
  • Perform chest tube management, invasive line monitoring, and wound care.
  • Conduct critical care-level patient assessment and management.
  • Collaborate closely with Cardiovascular surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in postoperative follow-up clinic visits.
  • Participate in general cardiology rounding, with a primary focus on cardiovascular surgery care.
  • Work every 6th weekend (Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM–12:00 PM).
  • Work one major holiday per year.
  • No call or overnight coverage.

Qualifications: 

  • Prior cardiovascular surgery and/or cardiology experience is required. Seeking an excellent candidate who is motivated, wants to learn, works hard, willing to be trained, and has a desire to join a team of highly functioning and collaborative providers.
  • Current and valid Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license and certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a high-performing team
  • Competent in conducting physical exams and patient assessments.
