Position Summary:
Seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented patient care coordinator to join our dynamic EP team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the Electrophysiology (EP) program at MVHI and Mercy Hospital by coordinating and overseeing all aspects of care coordination for EP procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrophysiology or heart rhythm management, excellent organizational skills and a passion for improving patient outcomes.
Coordination of EP procedures
- Shift detail: Monday – Friday on-site at Mercy hospital.
- Candidate will have oversight of EP procedures and facilitate preparation, e.g. catheter ablations, device implants, lead extractions, cardioversions.
Patient care & Education
- Ensure patients are prepared through education and communication
- Improve pre-procedural education and information
- Provide ongoing communications to patients regarding procedures, follow-up care and expectations
Clinical support
- Collaborate with EP physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs), EP lab charge nurse (and other lab staff), EP nurse manager, MHVI clinic nurses, and procedure schedulers to ensure high standards of patient care
- Creates strategies to enhance patient, referring physician, and employee satisfaction, increase patient volume, reduce no-show visits, and enhance the practice’s image and visibility by soliciting input as well as performing analysis
Quality Assurance & Process improvement
- Contribute to ongoing quality improvement efforts and support departmental initiatives to improve patient outcomes
- Continually assesses operating procedures and proactively implements action to assure ongoing quality improvement
Required Qualifications
- Work experience within Cardiology
- Strong organizational, multitasking and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment while maintain attention to detail
- Knowledge of Epic electronic medical record systems along with other computer systems and software used in assigned work area
Preferred Qualifications
- RN training and experience
- Work experience in the EP lab, EP clinic, or Critical care setting
- Prior experience in care coordinating or clinical procedures
- Knowledge of EP equipment, devices and procedures
